Is Gynecomastia Genetic? Can You Inherit Gynecomastia?

It must be worrying for a man who's suffered with gynecomastia himself, to contemplate what a son of his might go through if he ended up with man boobs too. In this case, a man might even wonder that gynecomastia is genetic.
Well, there are some genetic conditions (such as Klinefeldter's Syndrome or Prader-Willi syndrome) that are the cause of gynecomastia. However, in most cases, other factors are the cause. So, if you are worried about this your doctor will be able to discover if you have the relevant genetic markers.
Most likely, though, is that your gynecomastia doesn't have a genetic cause. But, if it is found to be, modern surgical techniques should be able to get rid of it.
If it doesn't have a genetic cause, there is a variety of other factors that could be responsible for the development of gynecomastia.
In essence the exact cause of gynecomastia is unknown, but experts believe that it is caused by a hormonal imbalance. It is most commonly seen during infancy, puberty and in men from middle age onwards. In puberty, the problem usually fixes itself within 6 months or up to 2 years.
Some cases of gynecomastia are caused by medication. For instance, certain drugs for hypertension, prostate cancer, some antibiotics, and ulcer medications are known to cause gynecomastia. Gynecomastia is also associated with substance abuse, as abuse of heroin, alcohol or marijuana can sometimes lead to the development of man boobs.
Certain medical conditions are known to cause gynecomastia. For instance, certain disorders of the male sex organs can cause an imbalance in testosterone to estrogen, and give rise to gynecomastia. Also, gynecomastia can be caused by a hormonal imbalance due to testicular cancers.
Whatever the cause, gynecomastia can be treated with a variety of medications or by surgery.
But, most men who have developed man boobs, rather than having true gynecomastia have what is known as pseudo-gynecomastia. In this case, fat has built up over the pectoral muscles, making them appear like breasts.
In this case, the best treatment is the combination of a healthy diet and regular exercise. The aim is to burn off the excess fat while at the same time building muscle.
The diet should be made up lots of vegetables, some fruit, adequate amounts of lean protein (chicken, fish, legumes, for example), and a good amount of whole grains. And, should avoid all processed and pre-packaged food.
The exercise should be split into two parts: cardio to help burn off the fat, and weight lifting to help build muscle. But, rather than just concentrating on exercises that just work the pectoral muscles, the focus should be on the whole body. The reason for this is that just working the pectoral muscles can actually make the condition more prominent. gynecomastia surgery cost in hyderabad
